Add support from email from friendfeed.com
FriendFeed is a social aggregation service. The comments arrive from username@friendfeed.com, it could be parsed and a lot of social info retrieved.

Find people on Skype automatically
I would like to see the Skype links for my contacts in Rapportive, so that I can contact them easily. The links should appear automatically, even for those people who don't have Rapportive installed.
36 votesGood idea, thanks! Right now we can’t find people on Skype automatically, but you can add a Skype link to your own profile: just click “add a social network” and then type skype:yourusername

Hi Adam, thanks for getting in touch. We’d certainly like people to be able to make their profiles exactly how they want them.
Perhaps a good first step would be if we defined a sensible default order — at the moment we go Twitter, Facebook, Linked-in, and then the rest are random. Should we include more things in that list, or order it differently?

Hi, thanks for your note. I wasn’t aware of any compatibility problems between Rapportive and Better Gmail. Could you explain what issue you are seeing?

Search for information by using the full name and not only by the current, single, email address
Social networks are easily searched by full names (which are connected to the email address within my contacts). Bring it on...
71 votesThank you for your idea — we’re looking into ways of making this work.
Names are tricky, because they can have different spellings, can be abbreviated, and sometimes two different people can have the same name. But I’m sure we will find a way of solving this. In the meantime, thanks for bearing with us!

Allow me to see who viewed my profile
I'd like to see who viewed my profile. You display the count of users who have viewed, and I very much want to know who these people are. See LinkedIn for example of this (though not ideal there either as they hide some info about who viewed)
57 votesThis is an interesting idea – I can see that it would be useful. We don’t have immediate plans in this direction, and we obviously have to be very careful here to protect people’s privacy. I’d be interested to hear in the comments – how would you react if people whose profiles you viewed in Rapportive could see your name and profile in return?

Not the right person
put a this is not the right person option. I have had several mismatches
16 votesHi Stephen,
Great idea! For the moment we’ve been encouraging users to email supportive@rapportive.com when they notice broken profiles (and I’d encourage you to do the same :) — a button would be a huge improvement.
Thanks

Display upcoming events that people will be attending
This could potentially clutter things up, but it might be good to have the next X (3?) events a person will be attending displayed in-line similar to the most recent tweets.
This could be pulled from Facebook Events (although potentially unprofessional / invasive), or an event planning/scheduling webservice like tungle, eevent, etc.

Start serving german users as well! (please)
I am german and for some reason my also german contacts mostly don't get found at all even though they are on facebook and everywhere else!
1 voteHi Christian, thanks for pointing this out. As far as I know, we don’t have any particular problems with German (or any other language/nationality) users, but we do sometimes have difficulties finding information about your contacts.
We’re acutely aware of this, and working hard on making it better. Thanks for bearing with us in the meantime!

add keyboard shortcuts
Would other Rapportive users want this:
I'm a keyboard fiend (http://go.DanielOdio.com/gmail) and although i love all the keyboard shortcuts in gmail, I'm really missing the ability to do these things:
attach a file
reply + add CC line
"reply to all" but put the "from" into the "bcc" line and the "cc" into the "from" line .... this would be especially useful for intros. Say Bob introduces Daniel to George on cc (or maybe he's also in the "to", either way). Daniel wants to reply with George in the "to" and Bob in the BCC, so Daniel can…

pull my photo from google or linkedin or fb instead of gravatar.
i don't want to have to make a gravatar profile just to edit my photo.
3 votesHi Axel,
Thanks for getting in touch.
If you have a photo on Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn etc. We will use that one instead of Gravatar (if you don’t have a Gravatar).
We tell people to change the photo on Gravatar because it’s guaranteed to work, and makes it clear how public the Rapportive photo is.
In the future, we’re hoping to have a mechanism where you can choose which photo you want us to display — but that might be a while yet, sorry.

Integrate a notes section in Gmail/Facebook Chat
This way when we are chatting with people we can create notes that we should remember in various discussions with this person - these notes should even be visible from their facebook profile and gmail contacts.
This way we can always get back to notes about this person and keep abreast of whats important and going on in their life.
Great for networking.
2 votesHi David, thanks for your idea; I think that’s really interesting. We are looking to make your notes accessible from more places, and we’ll take this into account.

Remember The Milk
Rapportive Chrome Extension does not work when Remember The Milk (https://www.rememberthemilk.com) extension is installed.
6 votesHi Tomasz,
We’ve got a note in our bug tracker to try to fix this — but it’s hard to work out what to do as both extensions use the same space in Gmail.
If you’re feeling adventurous, Remember The Milk have published a separate Gmail Gadget ( http://www.rememberthemilk.com/services/gmail/gadget/ ) that appears in the left-hand-column, so it doesn’t conflict with Rapportive.
Obviously this isn’t a real fix, but hopefully it is good enough until we have made one — please let me know how you get on.

Allow you to turn off the faces showing. It's too distracting.
Hard for humans to avoid being drawn to faces. Makes checking email annoying, especially for people you commonly email when seeing what they look like isn't really useful.
1 voteThanks for the suggestion Jason! This is under review for doing in the future.

to have more robust check on FB accounts. I tried with one of my email assigned with my FB account and it did not give me the expected results....and it happened with many other such addresses.....
1 voteHi John, thanks for your note. Can you explain a bit more about what results you got, and what you were expecting? Did you see incorrect information, or just none at all?
Thanks! — Martin
