We already support this for Twitter. Next time you get a notification email that someone is following you, or has sent you a DM, check the sidebar: we show you that person’s tweets and any other information we could find about them.
Support for other networks is planned!

Hi Harley, we’re definitely looking for ways to improve our installation experience, and avoiding forcing a restart in Firefox would help a lot. We’ll update here when we have an idea of how feasible it is!

Sorry for multiple updates here. The refresh button does unfortunately need to refresh the whole Gmail tab, not just the Rapportive sidebar. Sometimes when we add new features or fix bugs we need to reload the code that makes Rapportive work, and that only gets loaded when you open Gmail – so to make sure it gets updated properly we have to refresh the whole tab. We try very hard to avoid making changes that require this refresh, but sometimes it’s unavoidable.
However, Gmail usually warns you before refreshing the window if you click the Refresh button while you’re writing an email. It should pop up a window saying something like “you have work unsaved, really leave this window?” Really sorry that didn’t happen in this case and you lost work. It doesn’t warn you if it’s already saved the draft, but then you’d have seen your email in the…
An error occurred while saving the comment AdminSam Stokes (Admin, Rapportive) commentedThanks for letting us know! Now that I think about it, that's not an ideal experience - Gmail saves the draft automatically every minute or so, but it doesn't really indicate to you that it's saved. We'll try to find some way to make that case less confusing!

Sorry to hear we’re slowing down your Safari. We’ll look into this. It shouldn’t happen – are you quite sure it only happens when you have Rapportive enabled? Are there other sites besides Google Reader where it goes slow? Does it slow down when you’re in Gmail?

Yup, we want to do this. (In the meantime, until we put in a proper “report” button, we’d appreciate it if you could drop us an email at support@rapportive.com if you find abusive profiles!)
An error occurred while saving the comment AdminSam Stokes (Admin, Rapportive) commentedComment by Brian Meloche from merged idea: "Let me notify Rapportive of emails that can't have a profile. An example of this is a distribution list email address, or a reply-to service notification email. If I know you'll never find a profile for an email, I should be able to flag it to not look up that email. Some distribution lists change the name based on the person who sent the message. If this happens, you should look up the profile of the name, not the email address."

Hello everybody,
We’ve been working hard on a Highrise Raplet, and we’re now ready to release a private beta to a very small group. The beta is invitation only at the moment; if you’d like an invite, please drop us a line at supportive@rapportive.com and let us know!
Best,

I really like this idea (I’d use it too!). Integrating it with Google Tasks is also a pretty cool idea (would play nicely with mobile sync!).
An error occurred while saving the comment AdminSam Stokes (Admin, Rapportive) commented@Jorge, @Gus: follow-up reminders are a popular request: see http://rapportive.uservoice.com/forums/42557-general/suggestions/850557-add-reminders-to-follow-up-and-keep-in-touch- if you'd like to get updates on that feature.

This feature request keeps coming up in feedback emails! It’s a little tricky to implement, as we have to keep track of all the reminders for all our users, even if they’re not logged into Rapportive when the reminder is due. But we know how popular it is, and we’d use it ourselves, so we’ll definitely see what we can do.
In the meantime, check out a really handy service: http://followup.cc. You cc your emails to it, and it sends you follow-up reminders.

Add reminder checkbox on Compose screen, a la Etacts.

Add simple google calendar/to-do integration
It would be great if I could check a box that says "follow up in 2 weeks" or some such and it would add a simple to-do or calendar event to remind me in just one click.

Hey folks, we’re nearly done on this. When we’re ready, we’ll release a small beta test to everybody who’s voted on the idea. Thank you for waiting :)

An error occurred while saving the comment AdminSam Stokes (Admin, Rapportive) commentedI'd like to understand what is the primary advantage of having this information made available in Google Contacts. For example, do you use Google Contacts as your main address book? Do you have it sync to a mobile device like an iPhone, and want to see Rapportive's contact information on that device?
@Sebastien, vCard is a good idea - thanks! How do you see yourself using a vCard export feature? Would you export a vCard for everyone you email, or only those you already knew (but where we found extra information)?

We definitely want to support this.
If you use one of the big hosted blogging platforms – e.g. Blogger, Tumblr, Posterous, Wordpress – then this should work right now: see http://rapportive.com/faq#features. Let us know if the platform you use isn’t supported.
If you host your own blog, or you use the “personalised URL” feature of one of those platforms, it would be really helpful if you could leave a comment here telling us what blogging software you use, so we can work out the best way to support this. (Please don’t link to your blog in the comments, but feel free to email a link to support@rapportive.com if it would help to explain how your blog is set up.)

Great idea! We could do this by adding a little “email status” message you could set on your profile for people who email you to see.

We already show recent tweets: just click on the Twitter link in the sidebar and it’ll expand to show their most recent tweets. (I find this pretty useful!)
We’re working on doing similar things for Facebook, LinkedIn and other networks too. We’ll probably need to ask you to log into each of those networks before we could display information from them, and it will probably only work for people you were already friends with. We’ve got some ideas on how to make integration with social networks really useful.
I’ll update here when there’s more news on this.
An error occurred while saving the comment AdminSam Stokes (Admin, Rapportive) commentedHi Rockey, your tweets shouldn't show up twice. Does this happen all the time for you, or only occasionally? Any chance you could drop an email to support@rapportive.com with a screenshot?

We’ve made some progress on this: once you’ve connected your Google Contacts to Rapportive (http://blog.rapportive.com/address-book-inbox-together-at-last), then if you have several email addresses for a contact, we’ll recognise that the different email addresses are the same person, and show the same profile for all of them. This means you can “link” two profiles together by creating a contact in Google Contacts with both of the email addresses – however please note we could take up to a day to notice the change.
If we determine from your Google Contacts that two email addresses are the same person, that will be private to you – i.e. you’ll see the same information for that person from then on, but other people will still see them as separate. That’s because people often want to keep their personal and professional identities separate in public.
We know there are times when you want to…
An error occurred while saving the comment AdminSam Stokes (Admin, Rapportive) commentedThanks again Gus - that information will definitely be helpful when we come to implement this.
An error occurred while saving the comment AdminSam Stokes (Admin, Rapportive) commentedGus and Ted, thanks so much for taking the time to spell out in detail how you'd like this to work. Most of your contacts probably don't use Rapportive (yet? :)), so I can see that the solution I outlined before wouldn't help much with this problem.
I've updated the status with an idea of how this might work - is that the sort of thing you were expecting?
This would obviously depend on your Google Address Book being well-stocked with contacts. Google automatically adds people you email to your address book, so that would help with this problem. Could I ask whether you also spend much time manually adding people to your address book, filling in their details, etc?

These are good ideas – and #1 is my bad, sorry! We’ll get on these.
Presumably by “smarter” you’re referring to Twitter’s new UI for “native” retweets, where there’s a little “RT” icon?
An error occurred while saving the comment AdminSam Stokes (Admin, Rapportive) commentedI've fixed the problem with links not being clickable - they should do what you'd expect now.
Hi David, Twitter changes the format of its emails every so often to keep us on our toes, but we've just fixed it to support their latest notification emails (which now tell you when someone mentions you in a tweet as well!). If you refresh your Gmail tab, you should find it's working again.
