De-animate animated GIFs
Some profile pictures are animated GIFs. It's really distracting to have them flashing and spinning on the side of my gmail window.
3 votesHi Keith, good idea, thanks — I can imagine that an animation would be really annoying! We’ll have to look into this to see what we can do.
In the meantime, can you just discourage your contacts from using animated GIFs? :)

Get working on linux
I doesn't understand the FF User agent string on linux (specifically fedora 14 KDE here).
1 voteHey Lloyd, thanks for your message. We use Rapportive on Linux every day, but it seems like your configuration must be different from ours. Could you email us at supportive@rapportive.com and let us know what your user agent is, so that we can fix it? (http://whatsmyuseragent.com/)
Thanks,

Hi Joe, I’m sorry about the lack of information. For many people we are able to find useful profiles, but for many other people, our search currently fails. There are lots of reasons for this, and we’re acutely aware of the problem. We are working hard to improve Rapportive.
Thank you for bearing with us while we iron out these issues!

Hi Dave, that’s a great idea, thank you. We’re currently looking into ways of making more efficient use of screen space, and making Rapportive adapt better to small or very large screens. I think it should be possible to collapse the sidebar when space is tight.
If you prefer Rapportive below emails rather than to the right, and you’re on Google Apps, you could try this alternative version of Rapportive: http://rapportive.com/google/home — although it currently doesn’t have all the features of the regular Rapportive.

Have an option to disable all Facebook questions
I don't use facebook and don't want to but rapportive (any many other sites) constantly ask me to login/connect/friend via facebook.
Please give me the option to mark my account so that I won't be queried anything about facebook.
12 votesHi Peter, thanks for your note. We already let you hide the prompts to connect Facebook (click the ‘do it later’ link to silence them).
We unfortunately don’t currently have a facility for removing the ‘add friend’ button; we could make that an option, but we try not to have too many options, as it makes the application more complicated and harder to understand. So let’s see how much demand we get for this option. Hope that’s ok.

Allow a one click event creator for bantamlive in the sidebar in gmail.
Say you want to contact John Doe to follow up a sale in one week. Press a button and you are prompted with when you are going to follow-up. Handy if you agreed in an e-mail to speak at a certain date/time. Just add from there. Ya dig?
1 voteHi Jeremy, thanks for your suggestion. The Bantam Live raplet is maintained by the guys at Bantam Live, so I suggest that you talk to them directly about this. Sounds like creating events from within Rapportive would be very useful!

Allow me to invite email adress to join facebook or twitter of something else.
I'm from Russia. Many people still don't have an account on Facebook or Twitter. I'd like to invite them to join me on this sites.
1 voteHi Gennadij,
That’s a really good idea, we can look at your Rapportive profile to see which sites you are on and give you some buttons to quickly.
Out of interest, which sites do your friends use instead?

Display intelligent information regarding marketing emails
For example: trying to search for a social network profile for the email coming from
buy.com_offers@enews.buy.com doesn't make sense, instead there's got to be a guess that this is an email from buy.com and try to present the twitter profile or facebook page of the company that way its both a better user experience for the user and also a welcome avenue for the buy.com from an advertising standpoint1 vote -
Use org/company name in ID'ing 'unfound' contacts to place in header line
When a contact's info is not found by Rapportive but their common company or group name is their email address domain, why not put that company/org name in the header field?
1 voteHi David.
Thanks for the great idea! We’re working on a similar feature that will show a company outline, based on the sender’s email address. I’ll post back here as soon as it’s ready.
Kind regards,

Hi Joe,
That’s a pretty good idea :). The main problem that we have with Internet Explorer is that it doesn’t support some of the exciting new features in HTML, so we’d have to find complicated, and less-good workarounds to try and make Rapportive work.
That said, we know a lot of people have no choice about using it; so it’s likely we’ll add support in the future.

Move the Calendar, Map and Package Tracking links above rapportive
yes i've seen that they already have been re-added and they even show fine in gmail. However they are below rapportive, which tries to stay in view requiring me to scroll to the very bottom of the page to see them.

The chrome window that pops up to connect to Google is small...approve button hidden by text.
That's all.
1 voteHi Chris,
Thanks for letting us know! We’ve not noticied this ourselves. If you have a minute, would you mind sending a screenshot to supportive@rapportive.com?

When adding social network links, allow a trailing slash in the URL. Minor, but a habit for some peo
1 voteHi Jeffrey,
Good idea! We do this for some networks, but not for others (trying to reflect whether that functionality works on the given social network). It would be better if we allowed you to use the trailing slash everywhere and automatically fixed the links.
Thanks

that your product suck ... things dont work in crome
or is it that it does not work in crome ?
3 votesHi Ankur,
Sorry to hear Rapportive’s not working for you. It should work in Chrome, Safari and Firefox.
Can you try installing it from The chrome extension gallery? http://bit.ly/chrome_rapportive.
If it still doesn’t work, please drop me an email to supportive@rapportive.com, and I’ll try and work out what’s going wrong.
Thanks

Allow drag and drop functionality for display pictures
7 votesHi Budd,
That’s a really interesting idea — just an easy for you to make your sidebar better :). It will be quite a bit of work on our end, but this sounds like something we want to look into eventually.
Thanks again

Hi Tevya,
Thanks for getting in touch :).
We already get people’s photos if they have a Google Profile (for example mine is http://google.com/profiles/conrad.irwin). It would be interesting to see if there is a more reliable way of finding photos from people’s gmails.

can it be possible to identify secondary emails ids attached with that profile..?
Or searching shud be flexible enuf to guess the identify dveiations to the original id....say x.y.z@gMail.com shud be equivalent to xyz@gmail.com or many more like this..?
3 votesHey Ashwin,
Thanks for getting in touch :)
We’ve made a start on this, so we ignore uppercase vs. lowercase differences in all email addresses, and various .s and +s in gmail addresses.
We’re not yet sure how safe it is to ignore .s and +s in email addresses than aren’t gmail. We’ll do some more analysis, and update Rapportive accordingly.
