Update Rapportive to work with Gmail's new pop-out window.
I cannot get Rapportive to work with Gmail's new pop-out window. If I reply or forward an existing email, Rapportive will work but that's a somewhat messy work-around.

Crowdsource information gathering
a lot of my contacts aren't getting any information at all, even though I know that they are all over the web.
the solution:
Let people add twitter accounts, linkedIn profiles ect. themselves, and add it to the cloud of information.and thanks for a great program!
9 votesThis is a really interesting idea — we’d love to make information better by having other Rapportive users contribute. But we need to be very careful to get this right: a lot of information is private, and we can’t make private information public. So we would need to find some way of making very clear what information is just for you, and what is for the community.

recognize email addresses in the body of an email and add a quick link to add them to Google contact
9 votesThanks for this suggestion! You can already do half of this – if you hover over an email address in the body of an email, we’ll pop their profile into the sidebar.
That doesn’t achieve the second half of what you asked, i.e. getting them into Google Contacts. Could you tell us more about how you would use that?

Display recent and upcoming events you are both attending from Google Calendar
Display the most current six events both you and the sender has/is attending. Primarily this would should events from your Google Calendar they are invited to, but showing any LinkedIn or Facebook events accessible to both of you would also help make connections.
9 votesHi Nick,
Thanks for getting in touch! This is a great idea — particularly aggregating events from multiple places :).
I’ll keep this story up to date as we think about it more.

Add contact info found in email
A contact I email with just emailed me to say "give me a call at (xxx) xxx-xxxx. I would love to be able to easily add this number to my contact in gmail/rapportive. Right now I have to copy the number, go to the contacts list and paste it in. Can rapportive store info not explicitly found on social networks? Is there a gmail API to edit contact details?

Detect Google Groups / Mailing lists in general
When I receive a digest from a Google Group (e.g. django-non-relational@googlegroups.com) it would be far more useful to see the description of the group rather than a generic blurb about Google Groups.
(In the general case, many mailing lists are recognised by GMail, producing text of the form "mailing list python-list.python.org Filter messages from this mailing list".)

Secret Cornify Link!
Somewhere in the UI, get an invisible pixel that Cornify's Gmail.
Useless, but awesome.
9 votes:D Best suggestion evar! I’ll see whether we can easily add this — we should certainly allow people to put a cornify link on their profiles :).

Accommodate / integrate the new Google+ functionality Google announced today
See http://googleblog.blogspot.com/2011/12/gmail-and-contacts-get-better-with.html
I love that Rapportive currently does NOT detract ANYTHING of value from the GMail interface... but today Google dropped in a very rapportive-like feature, which gets squashed by rapportive.
You've only had a few HOURS to work on it, but I thought I'd open the suggestion anyway.9 votesHi Troy,
We share the same feelings — will keep this story updated as things progress!

Google Contacts no longer shows up in Rapportive
This was announced by Rapportive in April 2011 and worked fine for a long time. I noticed recently the Google Contacts link is gone from my Rapportive panel in Gmail, and Google Contacts is not listed at http://rapportive.com/help either.
What gives?

Fix bug when authorizing LinkedIn connection to multiple Google Apps accounts.
I use 3 google accounts - one plain gmail, and two Google Apps accounts. Everything works well with the first account, but when I try to authorize another one, I get a 100% reproducible failure. Here's an imgur album with 3 screenshots that shows what's happening:

tweak the twitter integration
I think the following tweaks would improve the twitter integration:
at the moment if I click a link from a tweet it doesn't follow the link, it closes the tweets panel.
don't include replies
make retweets look smarter or don't include them.
8 votesThese are good ideas – and #1 is my bad, sorry! We’ll get on these.
Presumably by “smarter” you’re referring to Twitter’s new UI for “native” retweets, where there’s a little “RT” icon?

Include top 3 search results for their name from google.com/news
Take a feed of the top three results when you include their name in a Google News search

Great idea! We could do this by adding a little “email status” message you could set on your profile for people who email you to see.

Show user twitter followers count
When you're scanning through email, it's sometimes handy to understand at a glance the social "weight" of the person who's emailing you. Followers count would do just that.

Show a summary of the contact's website (at their email domain)
A bunch of my contacts come up with the ol' "We couldn't find this person on any social networks" message. That's cool, but how about we show SOME info about the person. If they aren't using a hosted email platform (gmail, yahoo, etc.) then let me see some info about their email domain (mycontact@theircoolcompany.com).
8 votesHi, thanks for this suggestion. We’re working on getting a summary of the website associated with your contact’s email address, and hope we’ll have it working soon.
Best, Martin
