to have more robust check on FB accounts. I tried with one of my email assigned with my FB account and it did not give me the expected results....and it happened with many other such addresses.....
1 voteHi John, thanks for your note. Can you explain a bit more about what results you got, and what you were expecting? Did you see incorrect information, or just none at all?
Thanks! — Martin

Hi Nicolas,
I’ve added support to Rapportive so that you can add iXimati profiles to the sidebar (just click on edit my profile at the bottom when you are logged in).
We will certainly add more sites to the list of those we query for information in the future, so we’ll keep you posted on further news.
Thanks for the idea, and sorry it’s taken so long!

Use pictures from Picasa or Orkut
I use Picasa to organize my 12,000 pictures, with over 500 people's faces recognized. I would like Rapportive to use these pictures.
1 voteInteresting idea, thanks Henrique. I can imagine it would be delightful to see all your own pictures! We’ll have a look how that fits into our plans.

Weather updates
Pull down some weather info and link that to their profile information, based on their location. Often times its better to strike up a little light chat about the the weather (it is sunny where you are) instead of their last tweet (your dog died).
1 voteHi Wesley, that’s an interesting idea. It sounds like a Raplet (a little application inside Rapportive, which can use information from outside sources) would be a good way of doing this. Anyone can write Raplets, so hopefully we’ll see someone make one for Weather info!
Cheers, Martin

Hi Mike, sorry about this and thanks for letting us know! Can you please email a screenshot of the issue to supportive@rapportive.com? We’ll take a look at it ASAP.

Allow you to turn off the faces showing. It's too distracting.
Hard for humans to avoid being drawn to faces. Makes checking email annoying, especially for people you commonly email when seeing what they look like isn't really useful.
1 voteThanks for the suggestion Jason! This is under review for doing in the future.

Start serving german users as well! (please)
I am german and for some reason my also german contacts mostly don't get found at all even though they are on facebook and everywhere else!
1 voteHi Christian, thanks for pointing this out. As far as I know, we don’t have any particular problems with German (or any other language/nationality) users, but we do sometimes have difficulties finding information about your contacts.
We’re acutely aware of this, and working hard on making it better. Thanks for bearing with us in the meantime!

When a name mentioned in email text is highlighted by mouse, RAP should search it & list matches.
When a name mentioned in email text is highlighted by mouse, RAP should search it & list matches.
1 voteHi Vinay, that’s an interesting idea, thank you. I’m not sure exactly how we might be able to do that, since there are lots of people with the same name in the world. But we will probably figure something out.
Great to hear that you’re finding Rapportive useful!

Rapportive won't let Bantam go
I have two gmail accounts for different businesses, one is gmail branded the other uses gmail and google apps under my domain. I have 2 BantamLive accounts. Even though I am signed in correctly rapportive Bantam plugin insists on trying to log me into the original Bantam account from both gmail accounts. Suggestions?
1 voteHi Brecht, thanks for your note. I’m afraid the Bantam Live raplet was developed by Bantam themselves, and so there’s not much we can do about it.
Could you contact Bantam directly about this issue? Sorry that I can’t be of more help.

Crowd-source adding profiles for people rapportive doesn't find automatically
Sometimes I have contacts you can't find but I know who they are on different social networks.
Let us users work for you and add their profile pages!
(I do realize this may be a privacy issue, but still. I'd argue it's the same as mobile apps using your phone's contact list)1 voteHi Hamutal,
Thanks for getting in touch :).
This is definitely a good idea, but we’re trying to be really careful about privacy. It’s likely that we’ll eventually add support for this, but it’s going to be a while away yet.
I’ll keep this story updated.

When adding social network links, allow a trailing slash in the URL. Minor, but a habit for some peo
1 voteHi Jeffrey,
Good idea! We do this for some networks, but not for others (trying to reflect whether that functionality works on the given social network). It would be better if we allowed you to use the trailing slash everywhere and automatically fixed the links.
Thanks

The chrome window that pops up to connect to Google is small...approve button hidden by text.
That's all.
1 voteHi Chris,
Thanks for letting us know! We’ve not noticied this ourselves. If you have a minute, would you mind sending a screenshot to supportive@rapportive.com?

Use org/company name in ID'ing 'unfound' contacts to place in header line
When a contact's info is not found by Rapportive but their common company or group name is their email address domain, why not put that company/org name in the header field?
1 voteHi David.
Thanks for the great idea! We’re working on a similar feature that will show a company outline, based on the sender’s email address. I’ll post back here as soon as it’s ready.
Kind regards,

Display intelligent information regarding marketing emails
For example: trying to search for a social network profile for the email coming from
buy.com_offers@enews.buy.com doesn't make sense, instead there's got to be a guess that this is an email from buy.com and try to present the twitter profile or facebook page of the company that way its both a better user experience for the user and also a welcome avenue for the buy.com from an advertising standpoint1 vote -
Allow me to invite email adress to join facebook or twitter of something else.
I'm from Russia. Many people still don't have an account on Facebook or Twitter. I'd like to invite them to join me on this sites.
1 voteHi Gennadij,
That’s a really good idea, we can look at your Rapportive profile to see which sites you are on and give you some buttons to quickly.
Out of interest, which sites do your friends use instead?

Allow a one click event creator for bantamlive in the sidebar in gmail.
Say you want to contact John Doe to follow up a sale in one week. Press a button and you are prompted with when you are going to follow-up. Handy if you agreed in an e-mail to speak at a certain date/time. Just add from there. Ya dig?
1 voteHi Jeremy, thanks for your suggestion. The Bantam Live raplet is maintained by the guys at Bantam Live, so I suggest that you talk to them directly about this. Sounds like creating events from within Rapportive would be very useful!

Hi Joe, I’m sorry about the lack of information. For many people we are able to find useful profiles, but for many other people, our search currently fails. There are lots of reasons for this, and we’re acutely aware of the problem. We are working hard to improve Rapportive.
Thank you for bearing with us while we iron out these issues!

Get working on linux
I doesn't understand the FF User agent string on linux (specifically fedora 14 KDE here).
1 voteHey Lloyd, thanks for your message. We use Rapportive on Linux every day, but it seems like your configuration must be different from ours. Could you email us at supportive@rapportive.com and let us know what your user agent is, so that we can fix it? (http://whatsmyuseragent.com/)
Thanks,

Hi Rohit, thanks for your note. I’m not sure I understand — do you mean emails should automatically be archived after a set period? I fear that might be beyond the scope of Rapportive, but we’ll think about it.
Cheers, Martin
