  1. Starting a sentence with a lower case is just poor form! You guys need to rev that up to a higher professional standard. Make me WANT to send that invite without altering the copy. Right now I have to delete it every time so people don't think I don't know how to write a coherent message.

Hi Ryan, thanks for your note. We made the “rapportive.com” text at the start of the paragraph lowercase because otherwise LinkedIn doesn’t make it a clickable link — it’s a tricky compromise between grammar and practicality :) Sorry!

    Best,
    Martin

  3. We could have an option to hide specific users, so that not a single social information about them are shown - not even public tweets or anything.

This could be called "ex-wife feature", for instance.

    Hi Ross,

Ick — sorry for the embarrassment!

Adding a “My Gmail’s on Display” mode to Rapportive would be quite useful — we’ve had people caught out by the notes field as well (if I recall correctly one person actually plugged his laptop into a projector which let everyone in the company see the private notes).

I’m not yet sure the best way for this to look, but it’s certainly something we’ve thought about,

    Hi Kusha,

Thanks for getting in touch, just send an email to supportive@rapportive.com and we’ll deal with it for you :).

We have been thinking about easier ways to allow reporting profile mis-matches, and we’ll definitely update uservoice when we’ve worked out a good solution.

  9. Email notifications of user activity in certain systems (such as Jive) send the email from a generic system email address, but with the correct name in the From: field.

With the correct name being provided an internal raplet could still display useful information about a user.

  10. It would be interesting (though possibly difficult) if Rapportive could discover the websites or blogs people publish from. And put a link to those places in the Rapportive sidebar.

An easy attempt would be to grab web addresses from their signature. Even better would be to find some way to connect the email address to blogs - maybe Feedburner offers such a thing? Maye there are other ways to go about this too.

    Hi Jack,

Thanks for the reminder! We are planning to do something along these lines, though there are a few technical hurdles to get past first.

I’ll update this idea when we have some progress,

  11. I know much work has been done to the pane's design regarding its length, and usability... but the fact remains that I still can't see the end of some profiles when using a small screen (i.e. a netbook). This is because the pane autoscrolls, and doesn't have a scroll bar of it's own. I end up having to constantly switch in an out of full-screen mode. <-- That's awkward and clunky.

  14. I give a lot of intros. I love the rapportive window populating info on each person in the TO/CC fields. It would be even better if I could get someone's public linked in link (like http://www.linkedin.com/in/NAME) so i can paste that into the message

    Hi Tommy,

We try pretty hard to not show you your own profile in Rapportive. The main time this does happen is when composing a new email, and you haven’t added any recipients yet. Is there something you’d prefer to see in the sidebar at that point?

    Conrad

  16. In the new look gmail the Rapportive login button sits over the search button. Is it possible to move this, perhaps on to the new drop down toolbar?

  17. I noticed that some of the rapportive profiles include a summary of their website and links to website pages like "about" "blog" "products" etc. Profiles I'm referring to include Vimeo and Society6. Can I create a similar feature on my rapportive profile for my website? Thank you.

    Hi Michael,

If you send an email to supportive@rapportive.com with the email address that you use to send email about your blog, I can update its sidebar to look like the websites’.

Feel free to include a paragraph of description and some links, otherwise I’ll just let the Rapportive parser have a go at generating them automatically from your blog.

    Conrad

  18. Rapportive is awesome. Cirrus insight is a great tool for users of Salesforce. They almost work together, its just when you scroll down an email thread, the rapportive section repositions itself, rather than staying at the top of the screen, so it bumps cirrus insight out of the way.

If there was a way for users to select to turn off the auto positioning / repositioning, so rapportive would remain fixed on the page, rather than moving with the scrolling, it would allow me to easily use both extensions simultaneously.

    Hi Gorav,

    Thanks for the kind words!

We may be able to automatically detect other extensions such as Cirrus Insight, and automatically disable our scrolling behavior. I’ll do some investigation.

However, Gmail itself now uses the floating style of scrolling when viewing conversations – its People Widget has the same scrolling properties as Rapportive. This means Cirrus Insight will get hidden even for users without Rapportive: it might be best for Cirrus Insight to add enhancements to also scroll automatically.

    Best,
    Lee.
