Hi Christopher,
I think our emails got crossed, sorry! I see your comment with the detailed example now, that’s awesome, thanks. :)
Could you email supportive@rapportive.com with the email addresses that would be better flagged as role-based? We have a set of rules (based on the username of an email address) but we can override them manually when needed.
Thanks,

Add top stories from news websites
When I get an email from nytimes.com or cnn.com, perhaps rather than the site map, the top stories that are featured on those websites would be helpful.
1 voteInteresting idea, I like it. Do you typically get emails from staffers at those organizations, or automated notification emails?

Hi Torsten,
Do you have examples of the problem you could share with me? If they’re personal email addresses, please send them to supportive@rapportive.com and we’ll correct or remove any bogus data.
Thanks,

Allow users to manage the positioning / scrolling so Rapportive will work with Cirrus Insight
Rapportive is awesome. Cirrus insight is a great tool for users of Salesforce. They almost work together, its just when you scroll down an email thread, the rapportive section repositions itself, rather than staying at the top of the screen, so it bumps cirrus insight out of the way.
If there was a way for users to select to turn off the auto positioning / repositioning, so rapportive would remain fixed on the page, rather than moving with the scrolling, it would allow me to easily use both extensions simultaneously.
15 votesHi Gorav,
Thanks for the kind words!
We may be able to automatically detect other extensions such as Cirrus Insight, and automatically disable our scrolling behavior. I’ll do some investigation.
However, Gmail itself now uses the floating style of scrolling when viewing conversations – its People Widget has the same scrolling properties as Rapportive. This means Cirrus Insight will get hidden even for users without Rapportive: it might be best for Cirrus Insight to add enhancements to also scroll automatically.

HTML Rapportive Widget for webpages
Is there a way to create a widget that would make my gmail Rapportive Profile appear (within defined spacing parameters) as a widget on a blog? Minus my gmail contacts of course, but with my posts from Twitter, my profile, Social Networks, etc.
0 votesHi Jacob,
There’s no current way to do this, but that’s a pretty neat idea!
I’ll keep this story up-to-date as we think about the idea internally.
Thanks!

Option to hide users, or the ex-wife feature
We could have an option to hide specific users, so that not a single social information about them are shown - not even public tweets or anything.
This could be called "ex-wife feature", for instance.
43 votesHi,
Thanks for the idea :)
How were you imaging this to work — would they also not be able to see your profile?

Hi Michael,
This is a great idea! We already do it for Twitter, so it would make a lot of sense to do it for Google Plus as well.
Thanks!

Detect Google Groups / Mailing lists in general
When I receive a digest from a Google Group (e.g. django-non-relational@googlegroups.com) it would be far more useful to see the description of the group rather than a generic blurb about Google Groups.
(In the general case, many mailing lists are recognised by GMail, producing text of the form "mailing list python-list.python.org Filter messages from this mailing list".)

Thanks for getting in touch — that’s an awesome idea!
I’ll update this story as we make progress,

Don't show rapportive on myself
LOVE the thing showing info on the people I'm emailing. You would probably save a bunch of cycles and bandwidth, however, if you turned it off for me. I don't need to see my own LinkedIn profile pic!
3 votesHi Scott,
We do try to avoid showing you pictures of yourself, though when you’ve just started composing an email and we don’t have anyone else to show, we have to do something.
Can you think of a more useful thing to display in the sidebar at that point?

Detect LinkedIn suggestions in emails
Similar to the generic "detect notifications" suggestion (http://feedback.rapportive.com/forums/42557-general/suggestions/528957-detect-notification-emails-from-social-networks?ref=title), it would be nice if Rapportive could handle the notifications that come from LinkedIn that include "you might know XYZ" people. Hover over a person and have Rapportive pull in their information.
6 votesHI Jack,
That’s an awesome idea — thanks :D!
I’ve had a quick look at the emails that LinkedIn sends, at it seems that they obfuscate the links so that we can’t easily see which person is which. I’ll keep you updated if we figure out a way to do this,

Allow me to mark an auto-populated social media account as incorrect for one of my contacts
For one of my friends, the auto-populated Twitter handle does not belong to him. I'd like to be able to notify rapportive that this info is incorrect
4 votesHI Adrian,
If you send his email address to supportive@rapportive.com, I’ll sort that out for you directly.
We should really have a self-service counter too though, I agree! :)

Show both personal and domain level google contacts
In google apps you now have personal contacts and domain level contacts - when I click on Google contact - it should show me BOTH versions of this persons information, not just MY contact version.
5 votesHi Steve,
This is a great idea! I’m not sure how easy it will be to implement, but it’s certainly something we should try and find out.
Thanks!

Connect to Basecamp and Highrise and get info from there too
Include tasks, projects, deals, contact info, etc from Basecamp and/or Highrise systems
3 votesHi Nate,
We do already connect to Highrise — see https://rapportive.com/feedback/958313 for more information.
If you’d like to be added to the beta, just send an email to supportive@rapportive.com and I can do that for you.
We don’t yet connect to Basecamp, what information would you like to see from there?

Notes should be at the TOP.
If I create notes on a person, that should be the FIRST thing shown at the top of the column.

I have added but it is not showing up?
1 voteHi David,
It looks like it’s installed and working from here, are you still not seeing it?
By the way, it will only show up on people with Twitter accounts.

Allow an email address to be marked as "not a person / does not have social network pages"
Allow an email address to be marked as "not a person / does not have social network pages"
1 voteHi Waddaah,
That’s a pretty cool idea — we should probably do this as part of https://rapportive.com/feedback/529989.
In the meantime, feel free to email any changes you want made to supportive@rapportive.com, and we can do them for you.
Thanks!

worketc
Would love to be able to pull info up frm worketc.com
3 votesThanks for the idea :).
It looks like worketc have a Gmail integration of their own: http://worketc.com/features/google_apps_integration, is that useful for you?
If not the best solution would be a custom raplet, see http://code.rapportive.com/.
We’re hoping to integrate Rapportive with many products in the future, but I can’t give an estimate as to how long it will be before we have time for this.
Thanks,

Why does adding Facebook have to open 2 windows
Can it not be as simple as Linked in
1 voteHi David,
I thought Facebook only opened one window? Can you send a screenshot to supportive@rapportive.com of what you’re seeing?
Thanks.

fix the system.
Please look into fixing rapportive,I love it but...
it's constantly showing me inaccurate/incorrect information. example johndoe@hotmail will show me janesmith's information... it does not match the person more often then it does... :*(
1 voteHi Mike,
We try quite hard to keep Rapportive reliable, though I’m happy to admit that it’s much less than perfect sometimes.
Would you be able to email some examples of wrong profiles to supportive@rapportive.com, it would be really useful to help us track down where we go wrong; and (as a temporary measure) we can fix the profiles manually.
Thank you!
