search name and surname
How about if yuo couldn't find any information related to the e-mail, you can search using the name and surname across social networks, and if there is too many results, the user can choose from a list?

Use the reply-to address when a look-up fails.
If I get an email from my wordpress installation telling me that someone has left a comment, the real person's email address is in the Reply-To header, but rapportive (correctly) looks up the From field first. If this first lookup fails to find any interesting data, (because the email is from someone like wordpress@myblog.com), it should do a look-up using the Reply-To address.
116 votesThis is a good idea – thanks! We’ll look into this.
We’ve already improved our support for a related situation, when you get an email from an automated system or company address: we show you a summary of the company and useful links. See here for details: http://rapportive.uservoice.com/forums/42557-general/suggestions/518911-display-an-informative-and-helpful-profile-when-co?ref=title

Improve speed & responsiveness
Please work on faster load time, eliminate pauses when composing, reduce processor/browser overhead somehow, etc... When I compose a message, I end up waiting 3-5 seconds before the cursor appears and I can see what I'm typing.
6 votesHey Jay, Miles, we’ve released a whole bunch of performance updates recently — is it better for you now?

Background color for custom skins
I'm using the Ninja skin, which has a black background. The black text in rapportive isn't visible because rapportive is using a transparent background, resulting in black on black.

Add Phone Numbers to Address Book
I HATE having to copy a phone # in an email, switch over to my Contacts, search for the contact, Edit them, add it, click Save... Rapportive can just parse for phone #'s and offer to add them to the Google Contacts record right from the email sidebar.
5 votesHi folks, we’ve made a start on this idea — if you connect your Google Contacts (as described here: http://blog.rapportive.com/address-book-inbox-together-at-last ), we’ll give you a one click link to quickly edit a contact (as shown here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sg2vfenSark ).
Does that help?

Put the login form directly in the sidebar
It would be awesome if the Google login confirmation happened in the sidebar, without opening another window. Is this possible to do in an iframe?

Foursquare Integration
Implement Foursquare into the list of sites that is pulled in for the person. Also, maybe you can display the last location of the person (as shared on Foursquare)
30 votesYou can add your Foursquare account to your profile. Click on the ‘my profile’ link in the sidebar, then ‘Add a social network’ and paste in the address of your Foursquare profile. We don’t currently show your last location in the sidebar, but anyone can click through to your Foursquare profile.
This isn’t quite as awesome as automatically searching for Foursquare profiles like we do with Facebook and Twitter, but it’s a first step.

ignore networks with outdated activity
Until you can make a profile fully editable, here's an easier fix. Simply ignore networks that haven't had any activity in the last 6 months. My email address is listing a MySpace account. One that by Rapleaf's own data shows I haven't touched in OVER 2 YEARS.
19 votesThanks for this suggestion! It’s currently hard for us to tell from our data sources when a profile was last updated, but we’re working on that.
In the meantime, you’ll be glad to know that we’ve rolled out editing functionality for your own profile: just go to “My Profile” at the bottom of any sidebar while logged in, and hover over the information you want to edit.

Save pulled data on your servers to make Rapportive Chinese-Firewall Friendly.
China has blocked most foreign social networking sites. So if users could pull data from Rapportive in stead of directly from facebook and all the blocked sites, you will enable people living in China to enjoy your service. You should also look into pulling data from Chinese Social Networking sites.

Do not display myself…
When I focus on an email I wrote myself, don't show my profile, but a best guess on who could be interesting, for example the first person in the TO-field.

Hi, we’d love to support Tuenti – though it might take a while for us to work out how to ask for reliable links. Sorry for the delay.

Provide option to turn off "Social connection" info.
"Rapportive" does an excellent job of suppressing Google adverts on right side. Consider adding a button to turn off the Social connections it provides instead. It would increase screen viewable area for e-mails et cetera.
