Use rapportive engine to help eradicate phishing by allowing users to authenticate legitimate email
When users get an e-mail from customerservice@usbank.com or discship@netflix.com users could click a button to say this is a legitimate e-mail or a different button to warn that the e-mail address is bogus or questionable. Collecting enough of these would allow rapportive to help weed out phishing attacks.
4 votesThanks Steve, interesting idea! A lot of people are spending a lot of effort on figuring out how to verify whether an email is authentic, so I’m hoping there will be a good solution for it soon. But it’s something we should keep in mind.

Hi,
This is actually a pretty neat idea — it would be quite fun to have an easy way of adding people to lists straight from the sidebar.
Not sure we’ll have time to work on it soon, but certainly something we can think about.
Thank you,

Hi Adam,
Thanks for gettng in touch! — We’re definitely going to do that. We had a bit of a rush to make Rapportive work at all with the new top-bar, so we figured that getting an ugly fix out in a few hours was better than a beautiful fix in a few days.
We will, of course, fix it.

Abiity to hide my own profile
Does anyone else get tired of seeing their own profile? I think a great feature would be the ability to hide your own profile; I never want to see my own social profile in gmail, its kind of pointless and semi-annoying.
4 votesHi Zack,
This in an interesting idea, which has been proposed before, but we’re not yet sure how it would work.
There are lots of advantages to showing you your own profile, for example then you can keep it up to date; but I agree that it can be distracting.
We’ll think about it some more!

Include profile pics from multiple sources if they exist, either by rotating or zommable thumbs.
Just the Facebook pic, or just the LinkedIn pic is only one side of the contact's identity. It would be nice (and revealing) to see several pics from different sources, maybe gently rotating, or with small thumbs than zoom in on a mouseover.

Search for people by phone number
Will be nice to have possibility to discover who was calling me while I don't have his number in my phonebook
4 votesThanks for the details, Dariusz. At the moment we don’t yet have a mobile phone app. We are planning to make one, and with it we will probably connect to the phone numbers in your address book, and give you a way of seeing more information about the people calling you.
As far as we’ve seen, not many people make their phone numbers publicly available on the web, so this will probably be limited to phone numbers in your own address book.
Cheers,

Ensure that profile pictures are retrieved regularly from social networks, not just once.
Profile picture retrieval seems sporadic and inconsistent right now. I see many 'old' profile pictures where my friends have long since updated their picture on the social network it was originally retrieved from. This should be done more regularly and consistently.
4 votesHi Carsten,
Thanks for getting in touch. Out of interest, which networks are you noticing this most on?
We have to trade off between finding new informaiton, and refreshing old information; but it may be that we can tweak things so that we re-check some images more frequently,

wrong photo displayed
I am connected with "person 1" on linkedin but they don't have a photo so rapportive is showing me a photo of "person 2" that shares a name with "person 1." I can't change the photo and it is driving me nuts! HELP!
4 votesHi Webb,
Could you email me person 1’s email address please — I’ll fix it for you! (supportive@rapportive.com)

Add support for sending Twitter Direct Messages
To improve the new Twitter integration, I suggest adding support for sending Twitter direct messages.
This will be helpful in two main scenarios:
1. Someone DMed you, you open the notification email and reply to the DM from your inbox.
2. You want to DM someone about an email conversation you're having (maybe you want faster reply).4 votesHi Arik,
Yes — supporting DM’s would be really cool :). It’s mainly a case of squeezing the buttons somewhere in the sidebar.
Thanks for the clear use cases,
Conrad

Provide the ability to change the order that my occupations appear.
Currently the display order of my past occupations display an employer from 20 years ago first. It would be nice to be able to manually control the top most appearing employer, especially in the case when we have more than one present occupation.
4 votesHi Brian,
Thanks for getting in touch.
We should totally expose this through the “edit your profile” interface.
In the meantime if you email supportive@rapportive.com with the order you’d like, we can change it for you.

add names from the "from" field when adding email addresses to Batchbook.
When using Rapportive with Batchbook, we can use "Batchbook it" to add email addresses directly. I would like the name of the person sending the email to be detected and added with the email address.
4 votesHi Mariam,
Thanks for getting in touch,
I’ll forward this on to the guys at Batchbook who made the raplet.

Add Google+ profiles ASAP!
Behind the curve here folks...
4 votesHi Peter,
You should be able to add your Google+ profile manually; but yes it would be much better if we could discover these automatically!

Let me remove information I know is wrong.
A man named Ray is identified by you as a woman named Gabriella. He is a school district official and she is a Vice President Core Risk Services at Credit Suisse. Makes the service look silly and makes me want to remove the whole plugin.
4 votesHi Steve,
Thanks for getting in touch. Could you please send Rays’ email address to supportive@rapportive.com — I can fix it for you.
We certainly do need a one-click “this is wrong button” too.
Thanks,

HI Syd,
That’s an awesome idea! Now we’ll just have to find some icons.
Interesting — before we had the call button we used to have the type of phone number in text on the right. Maybe we should combine the two instead. I’ll give it some thought.

make the info window collapsible. I use zemanta 2 enhance emails. Your window covers Zemanta .
My Zemanta window is obliterated by Rapportive, which appears on top and won't move.
4 votesHi Gretchen,
That’s not great :(. I tried installing Zemanta, but it doesn’t show up in my Gmail — is there any chance you could send a screenshot to supportive@rapportive.com so we can see what the problem is?
Thanks.

Notes should be at the TOP.
If I create notes on a person, that should be the FIRST thing shown at the top of the column.

Allow me to mark an auto-populated social media account as incorrect for one of my contacts
For one of my friends, the auto-populated Twitter handle does not belong to him. I'd like to be able to notify rapportive that this info is incorrect
4 votesHI Adrian,
If you send his email address to supportive@rapportive.com, I’ll sort that out for you directly.
We should really have a self-service counter too though, I agree! :)
