  1. Ultimately the best functionality would be for rapportive to, when I click on the number, pop up an option box that gives me the choice (based on user-set parameters) to dial or send SMS with: skype, Google Voice, Google Talk, or a TAPI - connected phone.

The dialog could be very similar to the Call/Text option box that Google Voice (not Google Talk's "phone" feature) gives.

  3. Hello devs,

Rapportive won't log in or allow me to edit my rapportive profile.

It keeps asking me to sign up with google, linkedin, facebook or other, opens and closes the new window and nothing happens.

    Any ideas?
    Cheers

    Hi Bruno,

Thanks for getting in touch — that sounds most odd indeed.

I’ve tried upgrading to Chrome 19 but I don’t see the effect you are reporting.

Is there any chance you could try downgrading to the beta channel of Chrome and seeing whether that fixes your problems?

    Thanks,

    Conrad

  4. On Ubuntu 10.10 rapportive 1.3.7 make instant Firefox crashes every time when I close tab with my gmail account.
Tested on FF 10.0 and 11 beta 2
    Please fix this issue.
    Thnx.

  6. Do not validate names. It seems like my name came over from another service, and it was suggested that I move to "Victor Goff Iiii" when the original source had "III" correctly done. Leave my name alone, and I will try my hardest not to mangle yours, OK?

  8. In order to "follow" someone in twitter I have to authorise your app in twitter. One of the permissions you require is the ability to post tweets. This puts me off as I don't want you to post spam/ads etc. (although I'm trusting you won't...)

    Hi Matt,

Rapportive asks for permission to send tweets so that we can let you reply and retweet from the sidebar directly.

Obviously we’ll never send any tweet that you didn’t ask us to send, but I can see how the permission is still scary.

  9. I should be able to get access to the existing Gmail information and tools, like contacts, all the people in an interaction, etc.

Rapportive should be additive with Gmail contact management features, not replace them.

    Hi Soren,

For Contacts that are in your Google Contacts Rapportive will still show you a contact link, and we allow you to switch between people in the conversation by just hovering over an email address or the sender’s name with the mouse.

We do want to improve this to make it easier to swtich from using Google’s People Widget to Rapportive,

    Thanks for the idea,
    Conrad

    Hi Ross,

Ick — sorry for the embarrassment!

Adding a “My Gmail’s on Display” mode to Rapportive would be quite useful — we’ve had people caught out by the notes field as well (if I recall correctly one person actually plugged his laptop into a projector which let everyone in the company see the private notes).

I’m not yet sure the best way for this to look, but it’s certainly something we’ve thought about,

    Conrad

    Hi Kusha,

Thanks for getting in touch, just send an email to supportive@rapportive.com and we’ll deal with it for you :).

We have been thinking about easier ways to allow reporting profile mis-matches, and we’ll definitely update uservoice when we’ve worked out a good solution.

  14. It would be interesting (though possibly difficult) if Rapportive could discover the websites or blogs people publish from. And put a link to those places in the Rapportive sidebar.

An easy attempt would be to grab web addresses from their signature. Even better would be to find some way to connect the email address to blogs - maybe Feedburner offers such a thing? Maye there are other ways to go about this too.

    Hi Jack,

Thanks for the reminder! We are planning to do something along these lines, though there are a few technical hurdles to get past first.

I’ll update this idea when we have some progress,

    HI Jeff,

We should already show you the image from Google Contacts, though we only do this if we haven’t found an image elsewhere.

Have you manually added a lot of images to your Google Contacts?

    Hi,

Thanks for the idea, it looks like Nimble do have an API, though you still have to talk to them to get access to it.

It would be cool if Rapportive supported all of the CRMs, though it might be a while before we get round to it!

    Conrad

  19. I give a lot of intros. I love the rapportive window populating info on each person in the TO/CC fields. It would be even better if I could get someone's public linked in link (like http://www.linkedin.com/in/NAME) so i can paste that into the message

  20. I have my personal email and facebook account. I also have business email addresses and facebook pages for that business. I am admin for the page but that is obviously attached to my personal FB account. I want to connect my FB account to my business email but then attach it to my business page, rather than my personal page.

    Hi,

Thanks for getting in touch — it shoulid be possible to add a Facebook page to your Rapportive profile:

Click the “my profile” link at the bottom of the sidebar, and delete the existing Facebook link, then add the link to the page.

Please let me know how you get on,
    Conrad
