Skype, Google Talk, Google Voice, TAPI, SMS Click to call
Ultimately the best functionality would be for rapportive to, when I click on the number, pop up an option box that gives me the choice (based on user-set parameters) to dial or send SMS with: skype, Google Voice, Google Talk, or a TAPI - connected phone.
The dialog could be very similar to the Call/Text option box that Google Voice (not Google Talk's "phone" feature) gives.
Hi Joel,
Thanks for the idea, I like it. Do you have skype and Google Voice installed, and/or do you switch between the two often?

I do have both installed, but I only use Skype for calls to freeconferencecall.com (Google won't connect to those kinds of sites, for a reason that doesn't need to be explained.
I only have the Google Voice extension that pops up a dialog to call a number when I've highlighted the number, or when I click a phone number that is an active link.
Turning a phone number into an active link is also the function of a browser plug-in.
That is the way skype works as well -- turns phone numbers it recognizes into clickable callto: links.
I'm not sure that switching would be necessary in a first release of this, simply being able to pick one of the options would be great.
