Allow indicating when several email addresses are the same person
Many people use two or three email addresses: one for business and the other one for social stuff. If I know both of them, why can't I get the same info on both of them?
We’ve made some progress on this: once you’ve connected your Google Contacts to Rapportive (http://blog.rapportive.com/address-book-inbox-together-at-last), then if you have several email addresses for a contact, we’ll recognise that the different email addresses are the same person, and show the same profile for all of them. This means you can “link” two profiles together by creating a contact in Google Contacts with both of the email addresses – however please note we could take up to a day to notice the change.
If we determine from your Google Contacts that two email addresses are the same person, that will be private to you – i.e. you’ll see the same information for that person from then on, but other people will still see them as separate. That’s because people often want to keep their personal and professional identities separate in public.
We know there are times when you want to link addresses together without mucking around with Google Contacts (especially if you don’t use Google Contacts for anything else!), and we’re still working on a way to support that.
We are also already working on a way for you to say “this email address belongs to me, associate it with my Rapportive profile” (obviously we’ll have to verify it really does belong to you!). That way people will be able to link together all the email addresses they use, if they choose to do so. (I use several email addresses myself, so I appreciate the need for this!)
Will update this when we know when these features are likely to roll out.

What is the updated ETA on this?

I use quite a few email addresses to keep my different work and personal projects separate. It would be great if my profile would show up with these different emails and/or if I could specify different info for each one (such my business' facebook pages and twitter accounts to go with each of my business email addresses).

I should be abble to link accounts/e-mails as aliases and also edit those linkings.
An inteligence for suggesting alias is also good.

I'd also like to consolidate emails but please add the ability to attach a specific twitter account that I know belongs to a person or their organisation which may not match their email address at all.

the first thing to do is let the users be able to add his own alternative contacts.
my ex: I have 3 active emails, I just would like to merge them to be display the same info with rapportive. -

I'm trying to merge all contacts in my GMail Address Book, so one "person" will have all e-mails in one "line".
Rapportive could use this e-mails list to group them.

I'm less interested in controlling my own profile (although that would be nice) and more interested in having the ability to add to contacts. I have a number of people with whom I email regularly via work addresses and Rapportive comes up with nothing for them. I'd like to add their personal email addresses directly to my view of their profile so that it would bring in their Twitter feeds, LinkedIn and Facebook accounts, etc.
I'd think this would be pretty easy - a version of a profile should be created for an email address specific to me (my view of their profile) and I should be able to control the content in that profile. Additionally, when searching, Rapportive could first look into my Google Contacts to see if there are additional contact details and build the profile accordingly.

Re Shimon and Darren: Yes — we have similar ideas :).
Re Roger (or anyone): If you want to, email your addresses to supportive@rapportive.com, and we can copy the information between the two in the meantime.
Re Simon: For now, yes it's case-sensitive. We've written some code to fix this, but it'll be quite complicated to deploy — but hopefully not too long now. See also: http://rapportive.uservoice.com/forums/42557-general/suggestions/944791.

What about showing a "Related Contacts" list in the rapportive sidebar?
You could make guesses about other people likely related to the current correspondent, based on:
- same name
- same domain / company
- (maybe at some point) frequent appearance in the same email threadsFrom this related contacts list, you could both offer an ability to merge contacts, and perhaps to form contacts into groups. You can use the Google Contacts API to do this, essentially providing a more convenient way to update that which also updates my notes/data in rapportive.

It would be really nice to load a couple of my own email addresses to combine my accounts.

Maybe I'm missing something, but this seems straight-forward. I associated a couple other email aliases with my gmail account, so of course, I want my profile consolidated for all of them. How about: for any account Rapportive allows for a user to "Consolidate this email address into my profile" which generates a confirmation email to that (new) address? If you wanted to be really thorough you could require confirmation click-thru's from the new email address and one or more current email addresses associated with the person's profile. But without this feature Rapportive is really limited in it's usefulness for me on an outgoing basis, though I love it for incoming contacts.

It would seem also that Rapportive is case sensitive on email addresses? I now apparently have two user profiles for the same email address, the only difference being capitalization of some of the letters. I did get the same defaults in the profile in both cases, so your search mechanism isn't case sensitive apparently.

Matt Chaplan below is right. That would be the best place to start because you have access to the Gmail contacts already. You would have to make sure you label the social networks with the appropriate email address because they might have multiple of those accounts as well.

I'm supportive of this feature. I have someone who exchanges email with me using a business account, but no profile is found. Linking profiles to different emails (or social accounts) would be great.

For me it would be great if I could simply specify my other email addresses as equivalent as the one I used to register in Rapportive, so people who query them will find the same information
