Allow me to copy some or all of the info found by Rapportive into the Gmail contact card
have quick one button access to allow me to copy line items from the sidebar into the users gmail contact, or the ability to copy all the info at once
Hey folks, we’re nearly done on this. When we’re ready, we’ll release a small beta test to everybody who’s voted on the idea. Thank you for waiting :)

I personally store everything that I can find. All phones, email, addresses, IMs, social network links, URLs, blogs, notes and (when I have it) a photo of the person. I also try to keep the BTDay info and some family info updated too (wife/husband name, anniversary, children's names and some personal/business reference for me to know exactly who that person is). Google Contact has an amazing feature that most people overlooked so far, which is the "relationship" field. It works similarly to what Google Circles is trying to do nowadays, linking people in "relationship circles". In Google Contacts if you reference contacts to other existing contacts using the "relationship" field, when you search for certain name, you will also get as result the people who has relationship with the user you are searching for. Very neat... :)

I don't see Rapportive complete without this feature. It might be hard, but it worth the trouble. So many other tools provide such feature and none are perfect, but surely they are all useful. Regardless of how Rapportive team decide to implement it, it is a must have feature and I guarantee we all will rather have it, even with limited functions, than don't have it at all.
One suggestion is to open a screen and let us (users) decide which info to add or merge (simple check boxes will do), and then everyone will be responsible for the quality and health of their Contacts in GMAIL. Rapportive will simply be providing a tool to allow users to merge/add info, that's all! Once Rapportive have it, the tool will be unbeatable. -

Syncing and merging it's always the best option, as someone says maybe through a wizard it will be easier to avoid duplication.
But exportation could be the first step to calm our anxiety! :-D

Sam,
I Think quite some users would already be happy if the same info found by Rapportive in connection with an e-mail address to be found in the Gmail Address Book next to the card that contains that same e-mail address. That's it .... (syncing and merging is a different story i guess..)

I currently don't have the "auto add to contacts" enabled, because I want to have more control over my contact list. But when I see an email from someone who I want to be in my contact list, it's difficult for me to add them, and would be awesome if I could do it from the Rapportive panel, with prepopulated fields

Hi Conrad - Google contacts is my main contact database - so I store all the typical stuff - Notes, website URLs, phone numbers, addresses, birthdays. I also put contacts into groups (business, family, etc.).

My answer is a little different than this. I don't want to click a button, I just want it to happen.
I want Google Contacts to be my master. It should always have all data.

Understanding the serious problems with synchronizing, my vote would be to simply be able to easily create a new contact from an email (which should include any details scraped from Facebook, Twitter, Linked such as picture, etc.)

This is vital until and unless Google hits it but we can't wait : )

I was just thinking how nice it would be if I could move people's images into my Google contacts. Because Google Contacts syncs with my phone I would then see a photo of them when they call me.

http://rainmaker.cc might be a good example.. it does a fairly decent job of tracking each data field's history & edit datetimes. it does a good job of copying data when you are connected to a user, however it doesn't allow you to search and gather data, EX: finding my facebook friends then searching twitter and inserting their twitter handle into my record.

Maybe Plaxo integration would solve this issue?

Rainmaker.cc does this, but I like the interface/concept of Rapportive better. It would be great if Rapportive would sync with Gist, too.

Show rapportive info in google contacts.

This is a great idea. Gmail does a very poor job of cross-referencing the contact data it automatically accumulates. I have plenty of multiple entries. It would be great if Rapportive could help me sort out who's who on the fly.

I don't really care if its in my Gmail contacts per say, but would like a single, most authoritative source of contact information for all my contacts that is always the most up to date. I would also like this source of data accessible in as many communication apps as possible, including presence on mobile. It could all be Rapportive, but needs to be easily accessible, or it needs to sync with something that is. Make sense?

how about simply pushing contact data to google contacts and let the user worry about data quality? Or, offer a paid service where we can capture the data into a simple contact database and export it.

A simple one-way copy that adds to but does not overwrite existing Gmail contact info would be very nice! Just dumping all the info into the Notes box would work for me.

I support idea of Naoise Golden Santos about the checkboxes and review function before accepting/saving changes + function of manual inormation editting.

a simple one way copy would be very useful for creating a more up to date and relevant address book.
