Allow users to collapse rapportive pane.
I really value my screen real estate, esp. when I find myself on a small screen laptop. It'd be great if users could simply collapse/minimize the rapportive pane.
To see the rapportive pane take up so much space really frustrates the hell out of me at times (I'm not fond of the email experience to begin with). Right now, my other option is to flat out uninstall the tool (seriously considering it), which blows, esp. given how easily it can be fixed.
Hi Adyita,
Thanks for getting in touch — it would be useful to have a “hide Rapportive” temporarily button in several cases!
Out of interest, how big are the small screens you are using?

I would love to be able to do 2 things (not mutually exclusive):
1) minimize the entire rapportive box, so I can see other sidebar applets I have
2) minimize individual rapplets, for instance the twitter feed. It's not always useful to me, sometimes takes up entirely too much vertical real estate, and would be helpful to minimize so I can see other rapplets farther down, especially when working on a smaller screen, such as a laptop.
It might be helpful to note that a scrollbar for the complete rapportive box could help with some of the issues, but ultimately, minimization of individual portions is the ideal solution

Please add the ability to temporarily collapse the Rapportive box on the right! Sometimes there just isn't enough room for it, especially for those who use Google's "Right-side Chat" Gmail Lab or another extension such as Smartr from Xobni.

I think this idea captures two things, and we'd like to enable both:
1. Ideally all Gmail add-ons should co-exist peacefully and not interfere with each other.
2. Rapportive should work well on very small screens.Allowing the rapportive panel to be minimized or collapsed (so that it doesn't take as much horizontal space) is a great solution to #2. Issue #1 might be harder because of the number of available add-ons: there are currently no well-defined standards for integrating multiple add-ons into Gmail's sidebar. Hopefully as the ecosystem further matures we'll be able to make progress there.

I am also trying to use the Cirrus extension for importing Salesforce information to my inbox, but the Rapportive box is pushing it off. Right now I have to decide what extension is most important. + 1 on the collapse feature request or at least some equivalent spacing sharing options.

Agree... allow users to expand / collapse what Rapportive showa so it can coexist with tools like Cirrus Insight

Hi John, sorry to hear that. What other apps are you using that want to use the sidebar? Hopefully we can find a way of coexisting with them nicely.

Rapportive acts like it's the only app I'd ever want in my sidebar. I'm having to disable it and re-enable it all the time. I soon will find myself never re-enabling it if there is no minimize functionality.

Great idea, sometimes you need to concentrate on the content of the email. Despite rapportive being fantastic, occasionally you need to work without any distractions

Asked for clarification via Twitter: I received an email that had an invitation attachment. Usually it appears in the Rapportive box but this time it didn't - I'm not sure if it was because it was an ICS file format.
But if I was able to minimize the window, I'm pretty sure that Gmail would have had their pop up "add to calendar" for the file. Even if I'm wrong, it would have been one of those things for me to see.
I love the product, hope this explains what I was looking for to minimize the window.

I use a netbook - woohoo, me - and second this recommendation. But instead of closing, how about minimizing? It came to me while I was trying to add an appointment that didn't appear in the sidebar.
Thanks!
