  1. Gmail detects when emails refer to appointments, locations and shipping notices, and adds links to the sidebar to (respectively) add the appointment to the calendar, map the location, or track the package. Rapportive removes these along with the ads. Please restore them!

We’ve now added these useful links back to the Rapportive sidebar. We should show them whenever Gmail normally would.

Gmail does seem to be a bit inconsistent about when it actually decides to show these links. Even if an email does contain (e.g.) a shipping notice, Gmail doesn’t always show the tracking link (and so neither do we).

If you do find an email where the links do appear with Rapportive not installed, but are missing with Rapportive, it would be much appreciated if you could forward it to support@rapportive.com so we can troubleshoot.

  2. Gmail evidently has done an update, and the Rapportive pane is scrolling up into and mashing with the text above the pane. More of an aesthetic, but it looks horrible, and when it started happening, I couldn't figure out what was going on.

  5. For the longest time, I couldn't find the Rapportive pull down menu because I use a darker Gmail theme (desktop). I had to switch to the light theme to find it. The word Rapportive is permanently in dark text, but the color of the text should adjust for different themes so that people can find it. Thanks!

  6. When I click on a Phone number in the Rapportive display, a HUGE - REALLY HUGE copy of that number gits displayed on my screen. If I highlight that HUGE number, the google voice dialog box (the one that lets me choose to connect the call to my cell, my landline or my google chat) pops up (that's good) but it is shoved off the screen to the right by the HUGE number - so much so that the google voice dialog is inaccessible. (I almost didn't notice it was there.) As A result, I can't do 'one click' dialing…

Hi Joel, Thanks for letting us know. I’ve adjusted the size of the large-text phone number to be a little smaller. If you reload your Gmail tab and try again, is there more space for the google voice dialog now?

If it’s still problematic, could I trouble you to send us a screenshot to supportive@rapportive.com?

    Thanks,
    Lee.

    Hi there,

The easiest way is to delete the links from your profile that ou don’t want people to see.

To do that, click “edit my profile” at the bottom of the sidebar, hover over the link you’d like to get rid of, and click delete.

Please let me know how you get on,
    Conrad

  11. The Masterbranch URL's have changed, the new ones are like this:
    https://masterbranch.com/vanessa.ramos

Also, you can use the new favicon :) https://mb-misc.s3.amazonaws.com/favicon.ico

    Thanks!

    Hi Samridh,

Thanks for getting in touch, and thanks for using Rapportive :).

You can actually already add a Skype profile to your Rapportive, it’s just a bit hard to find:

Go to “my profile” at the bottom of the sidebar, and then type “skype:yourname” into the “Add a social network” box.

Please let me know if you need anything else,

    Conrad

    Hi Paulo,

Awesome idea, thanks! You should now be able to add your coder wall profile to Rapportive — I even signed up for one myself :)

Please let me know how you get on,

    Conrad

  15. I have absolutely no use for the gadget, but it has been installed for all users on my Google Apps domain. I'm not the domain manager, though, so I can't turn it off.

I would really like to disable it, and I'm not looking forward to a) waiting for my domain manager to turn it back off after enough people complain or b) writing a userscript or Chrome extension to get rid of it.

    Hi,

    Thanks for getting in touch.

You can actually already do this by using the “Add Membership URL” box and typing in:

    “skype:yourname”

We should definitely make it easier to work that out!

    Hi Kevin,

I’ve added support for this – simply reload your Gmail to get the latest Rapportive and then hover over one of the “Consider Including” suggestions to change the sidebar.

Let me know how it goes.

    Thanks,
    Lee.
