minimize the space Rapportive takes up on Gmail if no lookup is found
Quit hogging my gmail space! Especially if you can't find anything, be courteous enough to get out of the way and not use up my valuable screen space
We’re looking at ways to be less obtrusive when we couldn’t find any information, and also at ways to find more information :) Hiding the sidebar is a good idea.

please allow hiding the sidebar - it is especially intrusive when using gmail in preview pane mode (a labs feature)

Yeah it seems to be doing better. It basically says you couldn't find anything and stays open but at least the minimize button works now. Would be nicer if it autominimized if you know you have nothing useful for me. but this is better.

I'm talking about the panel under a msg. Actually it's weird. In Chrome (12.0.742.124) , if there's nothing to show (some unknown email i guess), there's like 3 inches of grey space. No left or right buttons and the minimize button doesn't work. if there is something to fill in left and right buttons appear and minimize works.

Having an option to put Rapportive below each mail, instead of in a sidebar, might work. (I think eTacts did that in Google apps.)

I'm out of votes but I agree that this should be a priority! Going a step further, why not just have a show/hide button or other collapsible functionality for the Rapportive frame? This would possibly satisfy those who want to see the Google ads or use right-side chat!

Would like to deploy on a Google Apps domain but the "Thanks, we're searching!" and the login prompt would have to be more discreet before we could - anything not to generate support calls!
