connect to weibo and renren, the Chinese version of Twitter and Facebook.
As you know, Chinese people do not use Facebook or Twitter because the government blocks them. But China is a very huge internet market and there are lots of fans of Rapportive there (I am one of them). Why cannot you talk to China's social network companies and connect them to rapportive?
Hi Jielong,
That’s a great idea — we’d also love to be more useful to people everywhere.
The main problem is of course, that we can’t read Chinese :(. Do you know if either of these companies have publicly available APIs that Rapportive could use?

Petition for Sina Weibo support +1. Rapportive has been working great since I got my hands on it. Chinese SNS support wasn't an issue until I came to China - Sina Weibo has over 300 million users and for people like me, access to SNS both in China and overseas are equally important in making new friends. I understand the difficulty here, but I really hope to see Chinese SNS support come online.
Last thing I want to see is a Chinese company copycatting Rapportive and claiming to be innovative. -

Thanks for you prompt reply, Conrad! Both the two SNS websites I mentioned have their open platform for developers. For weibo.com, you can access to API here (they do have english version documents for developers who cannot read Chinese!): http://open.weibo.com/wiki/index.php/API%E6%96%87%E6%A1%A3/en
For renren.com, you can get the API here: http://wiki.dev.renren.com/wiki/API
I guess you have lots of other jobs to complete, but i will be patient and waiting for the connection of Rapportive and those prevailing Chinese social networks!Q
