Allow users to edit and delete notes
I want to edit the notes after I wrote them
You can now delete notes that you’ve written – sorry that this was unavailable for so long! We understand how annoying it can be to keep seeing a note that’s no longer relevant, or was left as a test.
We’re planning a big revamp of notes, and we’ll look at supporting editing as part of that.
(The way we use notes, we haven’t yet found a need to edit them – we just add a new note if the old one is wrong or out of date!)
Just to reiterate, notes are private – other people can’t see notes you wrote. So if you’ve written a note you think someone else shouldn’t see, don’t worry – they can’t!

Like a couple of the other comments says you will sometimes add notes by mistake: That makes a DELETE function much more important than edit. Because if it is just ongoing status notes it does not matter too much that you have some old information sitting there - but it is really annoying to have wrong information among the notes - perhaps followed by a note about "Remember to IGNORE the last note"..
Thanks! -

I added a note by mistake (I meant to type into the "add a social network" box) and now I want to get rid of it.

yes..... edit and and delete please!

I added a social network to the notes by accident, and now can't get rid of it, so I'd agree that delete is a must.

Sorry if you're seeing a lot of blank profiles. The systems we use to gather our social network information unfortunately aren't perfect, but we're working on ways to improve how many profiles we find. This might include giving you a way to add the profile links yourself for contacts you already know.

I think the problem would be solved if rpportive display google contact note section instead of having its own private meta-data

I use notes to remember information about clients. The ability to edit and delete would be amazing. Also, what about the ability to reorder so that the more important note could stay on top if we needed?
One problem I see with not being able to delete or edit is a lot of useless information piling up once it becomes obsolete. I would like to delete a note when the information is no longer current (changed phone for example or product status) or use a note to say "this person is on vacation this week" and delete it when they are back.

from my experience, when it is not possible to update or delete information it creates an overload of information and dirty data. This will can harm user adoption.

At least please allow to delete notes, but delete and edit - better :)

I like the model of keeping your notes (with a time and date stamp on them) as a journal related to the contact. But we all make mistakes, and if I really use this for a year I will have to read two pages of notes about a person in order to find the "correct and current" information.

Use cases:
- delete test messages / delete mistyped notes (on messages with multiple CCs i got one wrong)
- notes, like any other piece of information are very time sensitive. this means that if one note is ok today tomorrow might be obsolete. -

oh, just noticed the email request was "no-reply" :-(
re:"We're considering supporting editing and deleting notes. It would help us to prioritise this if you could tell us a bit about what you're using notes for at the moment, and how editing or deleting would fit into that."
I'd like to be able to update incase the information changes or I accidentally put it against the wrong user ;-)
Thanks

Well,
First, thanks for your response.
I truly wish you your product will success and you will gain the popularity you are wishing and beyond. As for the adding and deleting, see, this was the first time I used the system,
I added foo, bar, baz notes to an arbitrary contact and they are there forever now. -

Not sure where I'm supposed to respond to the email I got asking how notes are used, but I'll list a few ways I'd like to use notes:
--Temporary reminders of things relating to the contact.
--Attaching their birthday so I remember to mention it if i'm emailing them on their bday.
--Nicknames
--Contact's telephone #s so I can call them directly if I have a question about something in their email and don't want to bother looking it up.As i'm typing this, it occurred to me that it would be very helpful to almost have bare-bones contact info in the column as well.

Yeah, editing and deleting notes is kinda a must-have.

You definitely need to allow users to EDIT and DELETE notes.

Thanks Sam - that's reassuring. I had to note another e-mail address of my own to confirm this for myself!
