Display an informative and helpful profile when companies email me
I get notification emails from service@linode.com, notifications from noreply@ebay.com, marketing emails from info@tripbod.com, invoices from support@tunnlr.com
Rapportive should be able to detect non-human From addresses and provide an appropriate panel of information and links.
Information could be as simple as company data (from linked in or companies house).
Links should be something like the google "site links" for the company's domain name, or the most common links on a company's website. Ideally these will be influenced by my browser history so that the links I click on most have highest prominence. (eg. the "my account" link for a site, or "managing server db1" for another site).
When you read an email from a company address or automated system, we’ll now show you a summary of what the company is about, and some useful links for interacting with that company, such as their blog or support site.
The company profiles and links are extracted automatically from the companies’ websites, and our algorithms aren’t perfect. If you see something that looks odd, or could be more helpful, please do email us at support@rapportive.com with the email address you received the message from. That will help us to keep tweaking our algorithms and be useful in more cases.
Thanks for all your suggestions and examples in the comments – they were invaluable in getting this to work.

@Jason we'd definitely like to implement something like that if time permits. We're collecting ideas for handling social network notification emails on a separate thread: http://feedback.rapportive.com/forums/42557-general/suggestions/528957-detect-notification-emails-from-social-networks Would you consider voting there? That way you'll get notified when we make progress on that feature.

Facebook also can send out messages when people comment on posts and links. It would be great to pull up the person's profile, and supply a box to reply to comment via Facebook.
Here's an example:
Return-Path: <update+mbeynn2r@facebookmail.com>
To: Jason Harrison <drjasonharrison@gmail.com>
From: Facebook <update+mbeynn2r@facebookmail.com>
Reply-to: Reply to Comment <c+20vfjdd0000008yqnde0h001dm2096v070000008yqnde0000000000001rf0e@reply.facebook.com>

Any way for your to see through the yahoo groups veil to the actual users in the group? That would be useful because I interact with a lot of people over google and yahoo groups.

This is a great feature, thanks.
I also installed the CrunchBase raplets, but it is failing to find "Companies".
If we combine these two, it will be amazing informative and marketing tool, where I can connect to the Facebook page of the company, see its financial information, latest news and maybe even promotions. -

Hi Dario,
Thanks for noticing no-reply@sendspace.com -- I've just fixed this profile, so it should be ok now.
Which Vimeo email address is showing a MySpace account?
If you find more of these, please feel free to email supportive@rapportive.com, and we'll deal with them.
Thanks again,
Conrad -

In your 01/05/11 American Libraries Direct e-mail, you stated "We made this summary from aldirect.ala.org. If we could improve it, please let us know!" It sounds as if no human thought went into creating this summary. Please reassure me that professionals - librarians - edited this. Also (same issue), you quote the chief tech guru of SirsiDynix stating they were working on a product that would produce results before a searcher started a search. Isn't that another example of removing too much human touch from the research experience? Or did I misunderstand the article?

The profile for our company is not accurate and only reflects chunks of our home page.

Thank you Tobin, I've updated the profile for voice-noreply to be more Google Voice specifify, is it ok now, do you think?
Thanks Cengiz, newletter@mailer.infoq.com is handled badly by our system — I've updated the profile to show information from infoq.com.
Thanks Steve! I've removed the hi5 profile — Please let us know if you spot any more like that.
Andrew: I've sent you an email — the easiest way forward is to create a <meta description> tag on your home page.
Thanks for all your comments — please get in touch at supportive@rapportive.com if you need anything else.

When Rapportive extracts information from www.cgsociety.org it pulls an old news post. Please let us know what can be done to improve it. You say you say your algorithms aren't perfect well our front page isn't either so if we can do something better at our end let us know. *AP
