    Hi Michael,

Right now we show you updates from the people you email and let you comment and interact with their posts. We don’t yet allow you to post a global Facebook status, although it is something we’ll gladly look into.

    Thanks!

    Andrew

  2. Sometimes the popups open and go to the background and it leaves me wondering if rapportive crashed. Modals are nicer anyway.

    Hi Michael,

It’s a good idea. Unfortunately for many of the services with which we allow you to authorize (i.e. Google, LinkedIn, Twitter), they require that we use popups so that users can verify that the URL is https://.

    Hi Akilan,

Interesting idea. The only problem would be if Google’s spam filtering is wrong, then we wouldn’t show you useful information when you were looking at a real email that had somehow found its way into the spam filter.

Does looking up spam addresses cause you problems?

  7. Installed on Firefox ok, then checked Gmail, nothing there.

    What exactly does Rapportive do?

Could you provide some better installation and use instructions, perhaps some screenshots, so we know what if anything is supposed to happen.

Also some instructions on how and what it can be used for.

I get the marketing blurb on your home page, unfortunately there's nothing else on your site that actually helps me understand what it is and how to use it.

    Hi,

Yes — we really need a first-user-introduction so that you know what’s going on!

In order to actually see Rapportive you need to open an email inside Gmail — does that work for you?

    Conrad

  8. I've just started using Rapportive and it's very cool, except that Lilnked-in contacts are not appearing on your sidebar very often. When I click, your message box finds that they are there after all. Annoying

    Hi Nick,

That doesn’t sound right… is Rapportive showing people on LinkedIn as though you were not connected to them even though they are?

Could you please let me know of an email address for which this happens?

    Thanks,

    Conrad

  9. because I use also CRM extension, now when I instal this app, rapportive moving up and down and start covering my different extension

    HI Syd,

That’s an awesome idea! Now we’ll just have to find some icons.

Interesting — before we had the call button we used to have the type of phone number in text on the right. Maybe we should combine the two instead. I’ll give it some thought.

  11. According to Rapportive, a single gmail adress belongs to 2 different people on fbook. I'd like to block the one, whose a false positive :)

  12. It would be interesting to see a Google+ person's additional social activities, just like I do in GMail. I know that Google wants everything to happen in Google, but that isn't reality yet...

    Hi Jarrett,

It’s a good idea, thanks! We’ve been thinking about improving the keyboard shortcuts a bit, the difficulty is of course doing it in a way that doesn’t break everyone’s existing keyboard shortcuts :).

    Conrad

P.S. I’ve just realised — maybe “g l twitter” already does what you want?

  14. Related to other requests about notes. A task could be implemented as a type of note. The simplest version would just allow for checking off for completion. A more complex sort might allow for a date/time. And one with a link to an email is especially attractive. See how Remember the milk does it.

  15. A man named Ray is identified by you as a woman named Gabriella. He is a school district official and she is a Vice President Core Risk Services at Credit Suisse. Makes the service look silly and makes me want to remove the whole plugin.

  17. A business is always going to be looking to get more followers on Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, Klout, +1s from Google, Likes, etc. Instead of asking people to connect personally, in business you may not want a customer in your personal life, but rather on the appropriate buisness pages and inviting them to join those company pages or send a like, review you on Amazon, etc. would be awesomeness.

    Hi Matt,

Yes — that would be awesomeness indeed :).

We have mechanisms in place to allow you to edit the profile that shows up when the “role-based” emails of your company (sales@, info@, support@ etc.) are looked up; so it wouldn’t be a massive leap to also allow you to like/+1 the links that are on that profile.

    Thanks for the idea!
    Conrad

P.S. If you want changes made to your companies profile — just email them to supportive@rapportive.com, and I’ll do that for you.

    Hi John,

Thanks for getting in touch :). It seems likely that we’ll eventually support Hotmail, though we’ve got an awful lot more work to do within Gmail first!

I’ll update this story when we start making progress on this.

  19. I really value my screen real estate, esp. when I find myself on a small screen laptop. It'd be great if users could simply collapse/minimize the rapportive pane.

To see the rapportive pane take up so much space really frustrates the hell out of me at times (I'm not fond of the email experience to begin with). Right now, my other option is to flat out uninstall the tool (seriously considering it), which blows, esp. given how easily it can be fixed.

    Hi Adyita,

Thanks for getting in touch — it would be useful to have a “hide Rapportive” temporarily button in several cases!

Out of interest, how big are the small screens you are using?

    Conrad

  20. Load css before user lookup to prevent white bar across screen.
